JANESBORO FC’s Pearse Stadium will host the 39th Annual Limerick Over 40s Charity Soccer Tournament this weekend.

Deputising Mayor Moran, Cllr Padraig Reale launched this year’s event at the Dochas Centre on Parnell Street.

Cllr Reale, who himself is involved in local soccer, was immense in his praise of the organising committee, clubs, and players for their involvement since this worthy fundraiser was launched in the mid-1980s.

After a five-year break, the two-day tournament returned last year and raised €16,500 for local charity, which brings the collective amount raised over the last five decades to a truly impressive €375,000.
