Basketball wins for Limerick schools

THERE was double delight for Limerick teams in the All-Ireland Schoolsโ€™ Basketball Finals in Dublin mid-week.

In the Under-19 final, the Aoife Donovan-coached Mungret Community College edged out Calasanctus College (Galway) 40-38.

Mungret Community College: Emer Purtill, Jade You (captain), Anna Nealon, Abbey Nealon, Caoimhe Sweeney, Kay You, Mรฉabh Purtill.

Top Scorers: Mรฉabh Purtill (14), Emer Purtill (11), Abbey Nealon (8).

In the Under-16 final, Crescent College Comprehensive were comfortable 55-22 winners over Castleisland (Kerry).

Madelyn Hartigan was very effective at both ends of the court for Crescent and emerged the gameโ€™s top scorer on 16 points, picking up the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award for her efforts.
