A NEW pilot programme to help adults with intellectual disabilities to feel confident in higher education has been launched at the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

The programme, a Certificate in Applied Learning and Skills Development, is a full-time Level 6 qualification funded by the Higher Education Authority.

The programme aims to focus on inclusivity, personal development, and preparation for employment and personal life for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Classes, running at TUS’ Limerick and Athlone campuses, will involve skills for higher education; wellbeing and advocacy; and a preparation for work placement.
