No homes available for people on HAP in Limerick

The proposed new development would include 10 three-bedroomed, five-person maisonettes - which are self-contained flats or apartments often spread over two floors, with their own internal staircase and a separate entrance directly from the street.

THERE are no homes available to those in receipt of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) in Limerick city or suburbs.

This comes as only 41 homes in all of Ireland were available to HAP recipients during a period of March.

Just four were available through standard HAP limits, with the rest falling into โ€˜discretionaryโ€™ limits.

The majority of HAP-available homes during the period were in Dublin (31).

None were available in Limerick city or suburbs, Sligo town, Waterford city centre, Portlaoise, Galway city centre, Leitrim, Athlone, or Cork city centre and suburbs.

The figures come from the Simon Communityโ€™s โ€˜Locked Out of the Marketโ€™ report for March, which examines the experience of people on low incomes accessing housing on the private rental market.
