THE opening round of the various club football championships will unfold over the weekend.
Most interest will be on the Irish Wire Products Senior Football Championship.
Here, there are two groups of six, with the top three from each to qualify for the knock-out stages.
Group 1: Adare, Fr Casey’s, Monaleen, Na Piarsaigh, Oola, and Rathkeale.
Group 2: Ballylanders, Galtee Gaels, Kildimo Pallaskenry, Mungret St Paul’s, Newcastle West, and St Kieran’s.
The pick of the fixtures is the clash of holders Adare and Fr Casey’s, a repeat of the 2024 final, in Newcastle West on Saturday at 4pm (referee: Kierna Guina, Feohanagh Castlemahon).
Another tasty tie is the meeting of Newcastle West and Mungret St. Pauls in Adare on Friday at 7pm (referee: John O’Halloran, Bruree).
