Limerick has highest number of illegal parking fines outside of Dublin

LIMERICK recorded the highest number of fixed charge notice fines for illegally parking on footpaths in the country, outside of Dublin, during the first six months of 2025.

The figures were requested by Social Democrats TD Aidan Farrelly from the Department of Justice.

Across the county, 354 fines for parking on footpaths were issued between January 1 to June 30 this year.

Dublin had the highest number with 902, while Clare and Tipperary recorded a combined 162 fines. Cork City recorded 143, with 97 elsewhere in the county.

Galway saw 82 fines issued. All information in the report is based upon operational data from the Fixed Charge Processing System.

There’s been a total of 2,196 fixed charge notices across the country so far this year for parking on footpaths.
