LIMERICK Chamber has bid a bittersweet farewell to events, communications, and membership manager Caoimhe Moloney, as she moves on to take up a major business role in the Mid West.

Caoimhe, who joined Limerick Chamber in 2016, will soon begin her new role as general manager of the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau.

The role was previously held by fellow Limerick woman Karen Ronan, who was recently appointed CEO of Galway Chamber in April this year.

The Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau is the official convention bureau for the Shannon Region, a public-private partnership that provides impartial venue finding and event planning services to organisations across the world, aiding in bringing millions in tourism and industry investment to the Mid West region.

The Chamber, in a statement this week, described Ms Moloney as โ€œa driving force behind our flagship events, awards, and communicationsโ€ over the past decade.

With an extensive career already under her belt, Caoimhe has previously worked with Thomond Park, JP McManus PRO AM Gala, Limerick-based business management consultant Kelmac Group, and the Raheen Conference and Business Centre.

Limerick Chamber congratulated Ms Moloney on her new appointment, saying it is a โ€œtestament to Caoimheโ€™s outstanding leadership, passion, and deep commitment to the Mid West business communityโ€.

โ€œShe played a central role in deepening member engagement, leading our digital transformation, and expanding the services and supports available to members.โ€

Ms Moloney was also instrumental in organising the Limerick Mayoral and General Election debates in 2024, in association with the Limerick Post and Technological University of the Shannon, along with the annual Limerick Chamber Golf Classics.

โ€œHer contribution has left a lasting mark on our organisation, and while we are truly sorry to see her go, we are immensely proud of her and confident she will continue to make a meaningful impact in her new role,โ€ the Chamber added.

In a statement to the Limerick Post, Chamber CEO Michaelle Gallagher said that “it’s bitter-sweet for the Chamber as Caoimhe has been part of the team for over nine years. She has grown so much during that time and contributed significantly in the member journey. She will be missed. But equally, we are thrilled for her in the new role, as it is a real opportunity for her to go outside her comfort zone, leverage her MBA – and I know she will make a huge contribution to the region in her new remit.โ€

Caoimheโ€™s final day with Limerick Chamber was July 25, before she is soon to begin her new leading role with the Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau.
