LIMERICK’S Martina McMahon won the All-Ireland Senior Singles Softball title in Abbeylara (County Longford), thus continuing a sensational unbeaten run of 12 months.
McMahon (Broadford HC) beat Amy Brennan of Kilkenny in the final.
Left-hander McMahon served brilliantly early on in both legs to emerge the winner, 21-8, 21-11.
“A winning streak for me is just winning one game, I take one game at a time,” McMahon said.
“Softball is our traditional game and my favourite code. Big kudos to Amy (19-year-old), she put it up to me there. I have no doubt she will be back again.”
The champion also revealed she had broken a finger on her right hand earlier in the week.
