LIMERICK City and County Council has been urged to examine the rollout of a Home Improvement Grant Scheme for social housing tenants.

Fine Gael councillors Sarah Kiely and Dan McSweeney, who proposed the motion, were informed by the local authority that there is currently no such scheme available for social housing tenants of Limerick City and County Council.

“There was however, a pilot scheme in operation in the Newcastle West area in 2022 and the uptake was low among local authority housing tenants,” they were told.

However, the Council said it will review the operation of a pilot scheme and prepare a countywide proposal for the next Strategic Policy Committee meeting.
