IT DIDN’T matter whether they were serious golfers or only skilled at the 19th hole, collectively enthusiastic players scored a birdie for St Michael’s Day Care Centre in Cappamore.
In the past few months, St Michael’s has been on a fundraising drive which culminated in the Golf Classic and Monster Raffle at Tipperary Golf Club.
Over 170 local and national businesses provided support for the major fundraising drive allowing St Michael’s Day Care Centre to reach its ambitious €60,000 target.
These much needed funds will allow St Michael’s to future‑proof delivery of social, physical, and psychological support to seniors throughout East Limerick.
“Over the last month, it has allowed us to refurbish our venue improving the accessibility and safety for our growing number of members,” a St Michael’s spokesman said.
“Our 20-year-old kitchen has been replaced, enhancing the workflow providing 40 meals daily. It is planned to use the remaining funds to increase our transport options to meet the growing needs of those in our rural communities.”
St Michael’s has a long-established history of community senior care in East Limerick. First opened in 1998, it has supported countless families and individuals to date.
The service at St Michael’s helps to combat the physical, emotional, and social isolation associated with this vulnerable group, allowing members to fulfil their potential and maintain their identity and dignity as valued members of society.
The St Michael’s centre’s secondary function is to provide much needed respite to family carers in the East Limerick community.
