AN EXHIBITION of over 63 works of art promoting a healthy and open attitude towards mental health will open on Culture Night this Friday September 19 next at the Treaty City Brewery in Kings Island.
It has been organised by A.B.C for Mental Health, in support of Green Ribbon Month , a national month-long campaign to get people talking about mental health.
Amanda Clifford who set up A.B.C for mental health said it aims to make it easier for those experiencing mental health difficulties to get support by networking with other groups and raising awareness.
Amanda Clifford set up A.B.C for mental health “to promote a healthy & open attitude towards Mental Health.”
A.B.C for mental health has organised an art exhibition as they believe “art is a form of communication, even when we do not have the words.” The exhibition is open to artists of all backgrounds, professional or not and is open to any medium.
Ms. Clifford has been organising talks and events in Limerick city since 2014 to promote Green Ribbon month.
Ms. Clifford writes that “we should all be aware of our mental health no matter who we are. As humans, we share commonalities – biology, birth, death, love and self-awareness. As each individual is unique, so too is each piece of art. Each time we see an artist’s piece – regardless of their culture, sex or age – we get an insight into how that artist sees the world. No matter how one sees the world, we all want the same thing – to be listened to, understood & loved.”
The exhibition opens at 7pm on Culture night at the Treaty City Brewery in Kings Island and runs until October 5.
