THE Silver Anniversary of Limerick winning the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was marked when that great team were introduced to an appreciative crowd at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

That breakthrough win of 2000 heralded the start of a memorable three-in-a-row for a side managed by Adare’s Dave Keane.

Limerick beat Clare in the Munster semi-final and Cork in the final, following a replay.

In the All-Ireland semi-final, Antrim were accounted for and in the decider the Shannonsiders beat Galway, 1-13 to 0-13, at Semple Stadium, Thurles.

Limerick’s Mark Keane (South Liberties) was Championship top-scorer with a brilliant 3-34.

Donncha Sheehan captained the winners of the Millennium Championship.
