FLORENCE + The Machine will play Thomond Park on Saturday June 27 as part of her EU and UK tour celebrating her sixth studio album, Everybody Scream, released this October 31.
The Limerick date is one of two Irish shows announced for next summer, with Rachel Chinouriri confirmed as support act for both Irish performances. Paris Paloma will join the tour for remaining European dates.
Across five previous albums—from 2009’s Lungs to 2022’s Dance Fever—Florence has established herself as one of the most significant artists of her generation, achieving multiple number one albums in both the US and UK. Known for her powerful live performances and distinctive voice, she has headlined festivals worldwide and shared stages with The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
The new album follows a challenging period for Welch, who required lifesaving surgery during the Dance Fever tour. Her recovery journey influenced the creative direction of Everybody Scream, exploring themes of spiritual mysticism, witchcraft and folk horror as she confronted physical limitations and the concept of healing.
Written and produced over two years with collaborators including Mark Bowen of IDLES, Aaron Dessner and Mitski, the album examines womanhood, partnership, ageing and mortality. Recent singles include the title track, ‘One of the Greats’ and ‘Sympathy Magic’—the latter written with Danny L. Harle and Aaron Dessner, with a video directed by longtime collaborator Autumn De Wilde. All three tracks have received widespread critical acclaim.
