Fatal road crash in County Limerick

A WOMAN has died following a road crash in County Limerick yesterday afternoon (Thursday December 11).

Gardaí confirmed the fatal crash took place on the Abington Road in Murroe, County Limerick, at around 4.10pm on Thursday afternoon.

The crash was a single vehicle collision, Gardaí said.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem was to take place.

No other injuries were reported, Gardaí said.

“The road is currently closed pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place,” a Garda statement said.

Now, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the fatal crash to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dashcam) and were travelling in the area between 3.50pm and 4.20pm (on Thursday), are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí,” Gardaí said.
