TWO Limerick students got on their soapbox and took home prizes at the National Europe Direct Soapbox Final.
Ellie McCaffrey from Laurel Hill FCJ and Dylan O’Donnell from Gaelcholáiste Luimnigh participated in this year’s final with the theme challenging students to argue for or against: “Likes, Lies, and Legal Limits – Is it time for the EU to ban social media for Under-16s?”
Ellie participated in the Over 17 final and took home the highly commended honour (second place).
Dylan took part in the Under 16 final where both students delivered a three-minute speech to persuade and impress the judges and audience.
