FOUR towns and villages across Limerick were awarded almost €1million in government funding for renewal projects.
The government announced a list of 116 projects nationwide to receive funding under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
On Shannonside, that includes €49,815 for Cappamore for a multi-use community green space, €50,000 for Croom for improvement designs for the market square and the redevelopment of the former post office building, €300,000 for Adare for public realm enhancements; and €495,855 for Athea to redevelop the Athea Community Council building into a community hub.
Local TD and Minister of State Niall Collins said the funding was “wonderful news for the vibrancy of our towns and villages in Limerick”, adding that works in the four areas would “bring more vibrancy, drive economic growth and footfall, combat dereliction and vacancy, develop pedestrian zones and outdoor spaces, and boost tourism for our community”.
