
PLANNING permission has been submitted for almost 200 new homes on the outskirts of Limerick City in Mungret.
Homeland Projects Ltd have applied for planning permission in Caheranardrish to construct a large-scale residential development comprising a mix of detached and semi-detached homes, townhouses, and apartment units.
Under the proposed plans, there will be 182 residential dwellings, 141 detached and semi-detached two, three and four-bed houses, 37 two and three-bed townhouses, and 41 one and two-bed apartments.
There will also be a five-storey apartment building in the development, which will house 13 two-bedroom and 25 one-bed units, including a créche on the ground floor with capacity to accommodate 70 children.
52 car parking spaces, including electric vehicle charging points and 42 covered and uncovered bike parking spaces would be located around the development, including two near the apartment building.
Other plans under the proposed development are the provision of private, communal, and public open spaces, internal roads and pathways, pedestrian and cyclist routes, hard and soft landscaping and boundary treatments, waste storage, plant, signage, a new vehicular and pedestrian access onto the Mungret Park Road.
Public lighting, substations, all associated site development works, and drainage and foul sewer infrastructure and network works including a pumping station and connections to the existing networks and nature-based suds measures are also part of the proposed plans.
A natura impact statement (NIS) accompanies the application and has been submitted to the planning authority.
A decision on the proposed new housing development is expected on June 4.
