A POPULAR clothing story in Limerick City is set to close its doors for a final time after entering liquidation.

Born Clothing, located at the Parkway Shopping Centre in Limerick City, announced it would be calling it a day in the coming weeks.

The store first opened in the Parkway Shopping centre in October 2012, under the care of proprietor Joan Lynch. The Born Clothing brand has a number of locations across the country, including in Tuam, Galway, Athlone, Thurles, Portlaoise, Naas, Carrick-on-Shannon, and Cork. The chain’s first store opened in Newtownsmith in Galway in 2009.

The company was known for stocking Vero Moda, Only, Vila, and their own label, Emily & Me.

Now, over 100 jobs are expected to be lost at the chain’s stores across the country.

A statement posted the company said that “after 16 wonderful years in business, it’s time for us to say goodbye”.

“We want to sincerely thank each and every one of you for your support over the years – for shopping with us, supporting us, and being part of our journey. It has meant more than we can ever put into words.

“To our wonderful team, thank you for being the heart and soul of our business. Your loyalty and dedication will always be appreciated.”

The business announced closing down sales as operations begin to wind down.

A separate liquidation notice on the company’s website confirmed that no gift vouchers,  credit notes, or returns of stock bought before the liquidation will be honoured before the chain’s shutter for the final time.
