MUNSTER enjoyed a dream start to their current URC campaign, winning five games on the trot, but after a run of defeats, it was only in the weekend win in Benetton that we witnessed a return of form by The Reds.
This Saturday at Thomond Park (kick-off, 7.45pm), Munster will begin a run of three fixtures that will decide the fate of their 2025/’26 season.
It can be taken as read that Munster (5th) will aim to end the campaign with a major flourish.
Immediate opponents, Ulster (6th) are in good form.
It promises to be a cracker and is sure to draw a big crowd to a venue that has been starved of rugby in recent months.
The return to form of Jack Crowley has made a huge difference to Munster; his accuracy with the boot has been a feature, and Tadhg Beirne has also brought his experience to the pack.
It is good to see home players such as Calvin Nash, Craig Casey and Brian Gleeson, all of whom starred in the 15-45 win over Benatton, continue to impress.
All four Irish provinces are in a strong position to qualify for the last eight of the competition.
Meanwhile, a contract extension has been confirmed for International Edwin Edogbo (23), a great product of the Munster Academy.
He missed last season due to injury, but made a welcome return in October.
The young Corkman started in a subsequent big win over Leinster at Croke Park and has gone on to make 14 appearances for Munster so far this campaign, including his Champions Cup debut against Bath.
His impressive form earned Edogbo a call-up to the Ireland squad for the Six Nations Championship and he made his international debut against Italy in February.
