GARDAÍ this Tuesday made an arrest in connection with a serious assault which took place in the Old Cratloe Road area of Limerick City late last month.
The assault took place in the Old Cratloe Road area of Limerick City on Saturday March 28, and left a man in hospital being treated with serious injuries sustained in the broad daylight attack.
The assault, according to Gardaí, took place at around 10am on the morning of Saturady March 28. Gardaí at the time appealed for witnesses to the broad daylight assault, especially those who may have seen a VW Golf car travelling in the area at the time.
This Tuesday (April 28), Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the serious assault, which left the victim being rushed to St John’s Hospital and University Hospital Limerick for treatment for his serious injuries.
Gardaí said that the young man arrested this Tuesday was taken to a Garda station in County Limerick, where he was being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
“Investigations are ongoing,” a Garda spokesperson said.
Gardaí previously issued an appeal to the public for any witnesses to the serious assault, especially those who spotted a VW Golf in the area at the time, or those who were in the Shannonvale estate area between the Old Cratloe Road and Brookville Avenue to come forward to Mayorstone Garda Station on 061 456 980, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
