Limerick city transforms into cultural hub for this Riverfest Twilight Thursday

Tango at Twilight brings a live Argentinian show to the People’s Museum of Limerick. Tango at Twilight will feature internationally acclaimed dance duo María Victoria Fuentes and Lucas Galera, joined by Alice Abreu on violin and Mark P O’Connor on piano, in what promises to be an atmospheric and elegantly staged evening in one of Limerick’s most distinctive heritage settings.

Limerick’s monthly Twilight Thursdays initiative returns this Thursday to kick off a brilliant weekend of culture, food, running and fun, arguably the city’s best weekend of the year

THIS Thursday will see venues across Limerick open their doors for an eclectic mix of music, storytelling, food trails, workshops, and comedy, catering for families, culture-seekers, and nightlife enthusiasts alike.

The Milk Market will host a Dragon Spectacular from 5pm to 8pm, featuring three live dragon shows and interactive encounters led by expert Dragon Handlers. Families can also head to the Hunt Museum at 5.30pm for Twilight Tales, where traditional storyteller Daithí Collopy will weave folklore, legends, and poetry rooted in Limerick’s ancient past.

This month’s edition coincides with International Jazz Day, with a Limerick Jazz Trail departing Bedford Row at 7pm and winding through the city centre, while Treaty City Brewery hosts a separate evening of live jazz from 6pm. Tango lovers are catered for at the People’s Museum on Pery Square, where Argentinian artists Victoria Fuentes and Lucas Galera will perform alongside live piano at 8pm.

The Limerick School of Art and Design on Clare Street opens its doors from 6pm to 8pm for A Legend for Limerick, a celebration of the city’s cultural organisations through live screen printing, music, and community participation.

Food and drink offers are extensive across the city. The French Table is offering a seven-course tasting menu with Loire Valley wine pairing for €84, while The Spitjack’s Twilight Social serves two courses and a drink for €29.99 from 5pm. The Savoy Collection Food Trail takes diners across three venues — Hamptons, The Savoy Hotel, and Vincenzo’s — for €39.

Commuters and revellers are encouraged to take advantage of free parking at The Potato Market Car Park from 6pm to 9pm. Both FreeNow and Uber are offering 40% discounts on taxi fares for the evening; the codes are TwilightThursdayApril on FreeNow and TWILIGHTTHURSDAYSAPR on Uber.

Further events include comedy at Katie Daly’s headlined by Cornelius Patrick O’Sullivan, escape rooms in the Medieval Quarter, gaming competitions, a tufting workshop on Wickham Way, and a late-night techno set at Molly’s from 9.30pm.
