
AN exclusive interview by local podcast sensation Padraig ‘Paudie’ O’Callaghan with Republic of Ireland international Liam Scales of Celtic will be broadcast on this Thursday’s edition of Total Football on RTÉ2.
The interview proved a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the young Limerick podcaster, who was invited by Celtic FC to travel to Glasgow to interview Scales.
The feature promises to tell the inspiring story of a young football enthusiast whose love of the game continues to create extraordinary opportunities with his motto that “disability should not mean inability”.
Paudie, of Knockainey, was a guest of Celtic, accompanied on the memorable trip to Scotland by his father Brian and granddad Phil.
The travelling party were afforded a private tour of Celtic Park, and even enjoyed kickabout with Scales.
“It was amazing to meet Liam and see where Celtic train every day,” said Limerick Person of the Year 2021, Paudie.
“He was really friendly and gave me great answers during the interview. Getting to play football with him was something I’ll never forget. It was the best day ever.”
The interview will be broadcast on this Thursday’s episode of Total Football on RTÉ2 (Jun 18), airing at 3.20pm, just before World Cup coverage begins.
Following the interview, Paudie and his family were treated to a private tour of the world-famous Celtic Park. The tour included behind-the-scenes access to the stadium, the club’s trophy room and the dressing rooms, giving the young football fan an unforgettable insight into one of Europe’s most iconic football clubs.
