LIMERICK singer-songwriter Stacey Dineen has returned with her new single Stay, a turbulent pop anthem charting the highs, lows and heartbreak of a relationship you know you should leave but can’t.

Developed over three years, the track took shape at Studio 68 in Limerick with producer Patrick O’Donnell before being completed in Cork with Gary Keane and mixed and mastered in London by Jay Jacobs. Written nearly a year after a significant breakup, Stay captures the painful clarity that only distance can bring.

“I wrote it around the same time I was healing fully from that relationship and the ending of it, only then could I see clearly what it was. I was in my bedroom journaling, and I saw an old photo of us and realised that I looked so happy, but it wasn’t all smiles. It was that night I wrote ‘Stay’.

The track means a lot to me, because it’s a staple of a very important time in my life. This was the breakup that changed my entire outlook on love, and what I did and didn’t want, and what mistakes to not repeat. It’s a reminder that you don’t always stay in that stomach sick feeling.”

Dineen first came to public attention at 19, winning the global reality series The Fashion Hero in 2017 — its youngest ever winner — before returning as a mentor alongside Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean. She has since appeared on The Late Late Show, Ireland AM and Elaine, with regular national radio airplay.
