€2m worth of cannabis seized in joint operation

GARDAÍ and Revenue officers seized an estimated €2million worth of cannabis in County Clare this Friday (May 8).

A statement from An Garda Síochána said the seizure came as part of “a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue’s Customs Service along with the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit”.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested following the massive drugs seizure, and is currently detained at a Garda Station in County Clare under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

“As part of an intelligence-led operation, Revenue Officers seized approximately 100kgs of cannabis, with an estimated value of approximately €2,000,000, in County Clare today, Friday 8th May 2026,” Gardaí said.

Gardaí added that “investigations are ongoing”.
