THE confirmation this past week that Shountrade National School and Castleconnell NS will both receive new special classes as part of the latest tranche of special classes confirmed by the Department of Education has been welcomed locally.

Minister of State at the Department of Justice and TD for Limerick County, Niall Collins, was of the opinion that these classes will make a real difference for children and their families by providing tailored supports closer to home, while also helping schools manage increasing needs.

“It is important that every student has the opportunity to learn in a setting that recognises and responds to their individual needs.

Expanding provision within our own communities is a key part of that,” Minister Collins added.
