FIVE per cent of complaints to the Office of the Children’s Ombudsman (OCO) throughout 2025 came from Limerick.
That’s according to the OCO’s annual report for last year, which showed that 1,778 complaints were filed across the entire country.
According to the OCO, complaints nationwide about children’s public service focused mainly on education (31 per cent), Tusla (20 per cent), and children’s health services (14 per cent) – which are in line with figures for the previous year.
The OCO engaged with more than 2,500 children last year through its rights education workshops, school visits and outreach work, including to IPAS and Direct Provision centres, CAMHS services, and centres with unaccompanied children.
