
YOUNG mother of one Scarlett Faulkner passed away today (Monday), three weeks after she was allegedly assaulted and left for dead on the side of a road in County Tipperary.
Ms Faulkner (29), of Longpavement, Limerick City, passed away this Monday surrounded by members of her family after she was taken off life support at Cork University Hospital (CUH) on Sunday.
Ms Faulkner’s brother, Martin Anthony Faulkner, paid tribute to her online, wrote: “RIP my lovely sister Scarlett.”
Ms Faulkner’s sister, Victoria Faulkner, wrote: “You’re at peace now sister, I don’t know how I will ever live without you … You were always the best big sister to me.”
A video posted online by Joanne Duffy, partner of Ms Faulkner’s brother, Thomas Faulkner, said that Scarlett ” passed so peacefully with her loving family around her”.
“What a warrior, RIP my beautiful sister-in-law.”
Ms Duffy thanked people for their prayers and support for Scarlett and her family since she was critically injured on March 21.
After Scarlett’s siblings confirmed her passing, people took to social media to share their condolences with her loved ones.
“So sorry, we live in a heartless world, may Scarlett rest in eternal peace. God give all her family and her daughter the strength to cope at this heartbreaking time,” one mourner wrote.
“So sorry for your loss, sending my condolences to all Scarlett’s family and friends. I was praying this beautiful lady would pull through,” another wrote.
Following Ms Faulkner’s passing, Gardaà said that the coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
“A family liaison officer has been assigned to support the family of the deceased,” a Garda statement said.
“As two persons are currently charged before the courts, An Garda SÃochána is not making any further comment.”
Gardaà added that “investigations are ongoing”.
A 16-year-old girl is before the courts charged with assault causing serious harm to Ms Faulkner on March 21 last.
A 40-year old woman is charged with endangerment, violent disorder, as well as burglary, arising out of the Garda investigation into the alleged assault.
The two accused cannot be identified by order of the court. They were remanded in custody to appear before Tipperary District Court, sitting in Nenagh, on April 23.
