A NUMBER of local trails and outdoor amenities have received funding as part of a €3.13million Government investment in the maintenance of 224 Coillte recreation sites nationwide.

€280,000 was allocated to ongoing maintenance of Curragh Chase Forrest Park.

Funding was also allocated for upkeep of mountain bike trains in Ballyhoura, trail repairs and verge cutting at Foynes and Liskennet, upkeep at Galty Castle, upkeep of paths and signage at Glenstall and Greenfield.

County Limerick TD welcomed the news, describing the local sites as “wonderful assets that both visitors and local communities enjoy on a daily basis” and a “hugely important element of the outdoor recreation sector in Limerick”.
