GARDAÍ were investigating the sharing of videos of a drive-by shooting in County Limerick this past Sunday night.
The footage, which captured a shot discharged from a firearm in the direction of houses at Patrickswell, was widely shared on social media.
The gun attack was recorded from inside the shooter’s car carrying at least three males.
Gardaí were also probing whether the shooting was linked to a number of so-called “call-out” videos shared on social media by rival Traveller clans over the weekend.
One of the videos showed a group of masked men armed with slash hooks, swords, and what appeared to be a firearm, standing on a flyover above the N20 near Patrickswell.
One of the men stated in the video: “You were on the phone to me today, you asked me for a location, I gave you the location – we are here on the bridge, we thought you were coming here.”
“I promise you, I am a man of my word, and when I do meet you, I am going to your cut your head off your shoulders for you,” he is heard saying.
A follow up video showed another group of masked men armed with guns, with a man standing in the centre heard saying: “We’ll get ye, don’t worry about that.”
“If ye had stayed on that bridge, ye would be still picking up pieces of yer body at that bridge this morning.”
Garda sources said Gardaí were making enquiries into the video footage.
