THE family of Scarlett and Jason Faulkner have asked people to pray for the recovery of their cousin who was seriously injured in a fatal crash over the weekend.
The collision, which occurred Belfast Road, Nutts Corner, in Belfast, on Sunday morning, resulted in serious injuries to the 10-year-old boy.
The Police Services of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said a boy injured in the crash remained in a “critical condition”.
A 16-year-old male from Tipperary, who was a passenger in the same car as the young boy, died in the collision. The driver of the car sustained minor injuries, while another young male passenger was also injured.
The driver of the other car was arrested “on suspicion of a number of offences”, said the PSNI.
The Faulkner family, from Longpavement, Limerick, were already grieving the loss of siblings Scarlett (29) and Jason (30s), who passed away within a week of one another.
This Monday evening (April 27), members of the Faulkner family, friends, and neighbours, were to attend a vigil in Limerick to pray for their cousin and the others injured in the crash.
In a video posted online, Joanne (Josephine) Duffy, a partner of Thomas Faulkner, who is a first cousin of the critically injured boy, said: “Please God, look over and watch over that family. Please God be with them and help them through this very hard and difficult time.”
Ms Duffy said “the family are genuinely distraught, they’re going through so much”.
“This is the third Sunday in a row that the Faulkner family is after getting bad news, and I actually don’t know how much more they can take.”
In another video post online, Victoria Faulkner, a sister of Scarlett and Jason Faulkner, said her first cousin “needs as many prayers as he can get”.
“I know God can work a miracle, and I know, please God, our Blessed Lady, that things will go okay and that his little boy will be perfect.”
The PSNI said “enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 348 of 26/04/26.”
