Limerick need to silence the Harps

-

This Friday night you can catch the Super Blues in Jackman Park at 7.45pm against Finn Harps. After a fine 1-1 draw last weekend, goal courtesy of Martin Deady, against Moneybags Fingal, Limerick are now in sixth with 12 points from nine matches. This weeks opposition are having a bit of a slow start and find themselves in 10th spot with six points from eight games.

The logisitics of this league have been well lambasted in the past, so I won’t go on any more, but Limerick should be the fresher side this Friday night seeing as Finn Harps will have made a two day camel ride from Donegal on the day of the game. Pat Scully felt that his side should have taken the three points against Sporting Fingal “ We defended well during the game and stuck to our game plan. We had a great shape throughout but we were very disappointed to conceed such a poor goal after doing everything right for 83 minutes. As without that mistake we could have come away with a 1-0 victory. We will have to be even more clinical next Friday at home to Finn Harps as we really need the 3pts to keep moving up the table ”. Most encouraging for Limerick is the organisation and discipline of the Limerick squad who now look very sharp in all departments. This coupled with the return of Jason Hughes, Paul Cummins and John Tierney will certainly raise the hopes of all Limerick fans that a home victory is there for the taking this Friday night. Gates open at 7 pm sharp and we encourage people to get there early as the attendances are continuing to increase.

The Limerick team that took the field against Sporting was as follows, Ryan, O’Brien (Daly), Deady, Danaher, Purcell, Barrett, Walsh, Hughes, Cummins (Tierney) , Treacy (Colbert), Scanlon. Subs Not Used: Ryan, Lyons.

With people like Pat in charge on the field and people like Joe Sweeney keeping us all informed off of it, these appear to be settled times for Limerick FC.

In some other club news, Limerick FC would sincerely like to thank Abbey Rovers for use of their facilities for our very first Easter Camp. The camp proved to be a massive success and we’re looking forward to holding another camp there in the summer. On behalf of the club we were delighted to present Timmy Collins, Chairman of Abbey Rovers with a plaque in recognition of the clubs generosity towards Limerick FC.

Limerick FC would like to extend its sympathy to the Fitzpatrick family on the passing of Jean. Jean was the mother of Kevin Fitzpatrick Jr, Goalkeeping Coach with Limerick FC for the 2008 season. She was the wife of Kevin Fitzpatrick Sr, legendary Limerick goalkeeper 1959-1983.

Our thoughts are with Kevin Jr, Kevin Sr and the rest of the Fitzpatrick family.
