Treaty Green Energy Solutions Ltd

TREATY Insulation is a family run company, owned by the Fitzgeralds and with five members active. Conor Fitzgerald, a career civil engineer, heads up the operation which specialises in insulation but offers a multiple of services such as high efficiency boiler replacement and heating controls upgrade.

“We are a one-stop-shop and fully qualified and professional in what we do,” says Conor. “Our history is with the construction business, every aspect of it, and as professional engineers and quantity surveyors, we approach the business of insulation differently. We give you a global advisory on your home’s energy solutions”.

Bound by the Institute of Engineers in Ireland to engage in best practice, and as a contractor approved by the grant-agency Sustainable Energy Ireland, be assured you are dealing with the best.

“Treaty Insulation looks at your property, considering the external envelope of the house – the walls and roof through which heat escapes,” he explains. “We can improve energy efficiency by 60 per cent by correctly insulating your home, taking into account its individual requirements, and safety aspects such as cabling protection, insulation of the watertank and so  on”.

Treaty Insulation is project specific, engaging a detailed inspection of your home to provide the optimum solution for all your insulation needs. The company meets the criteria of the Irish Agrément Board.

“With our background, we know there’s no one-size/ price-fits-all formula for a dwelling. Take for example, cavity walls. I use a camera to detect electric wiring and protect that when filling with insulation beads. The cable into your house from your external meter has to be protected too by brushes from fire hazard.

“Of course, the wiring for recessed lights, for example, in your attic or ceiling have to cleared of insulation in case of overheating. The same goes for any wiring in the attic and we also clear a walkway to the watertank for safety, which is part of building regulations”.

Project-specific promise

Because of these precautions, Treaty Insulation does not pump insulation into attics.

“That’s a messy method and how do you keep wiring supported over the beading? It’s also virtually impossible to floor your attic afterwards so we use quilting wool”.

Conor makes the point against only booking cavity wall insulation – what if one or more walls have no cavity and need to be insulated from inside or externally?

“The flat roof of an extension will drain heat from a house otherwise well insulated, so that roof needs internal lining. Your watertank should be protected too, as it’s raised over the insulated attic floor and could freeze, affecting pipes and causing a leak or flood”.

“Treaty Insulation takes care of all these details, ethically and responsibly, insulating according to your home’s particular needs. Take, for example, the lightwell to a hall. That has to be insulated as otherwise the long tunnel of the lightwell attracts rising heat and releases it.”

Better still, their other services available such as Building Energy Rating certification, upgrading oil and gas boilers for efficiency and insulating the attic to rafter level make dealing with Treaty Insulation easy. The company has plumbers and electricians to contract.

“We’ll even advise you on the Home Energy Savings grants application, your drawing down of thousands of euro to support the work required. The benefits are huge, with life long savings and improved comfort available to everyone”.
