Talented singers combine for Irish tour

Karen Coleman and Madaline Pritchard have had distinguished careers as session vocalists, they regularly worked together, toured the world and have forged a long lasting friendship.  Both women took the decision a couple of years ago to concentrate on becoming singer/songwriters and make the move centre stage. They are bringing their Acoustic Soul Tour to Limerick playing material from their respective debut albums backed by a band of top session players.

Karen Coleman

Dublin born, Karen Coleman got her first professional job in a jazz club in Spain, just aged 19, since then she has toured worldwide with Andrew Strong, joined The Commitments Touring Band and recorded with many of Ireland’s top musicians. Two years ago Karen began her journey from backing vocalist to singer/songwriter. The result is her debut album, ‘No Secret’.  The album is a collection of heartfelt melodies tastefully backed by elements of jazz and blues along with Karen’s very own distinctive vocals. The musicians on board are a veritable who’s who of Irish and International session musicians including guitarists, Phillip Donnelly and Jimmy Smyth. Karen says, “With no support from record companies, this album has been a labour of love and it would never have happened except for the generosity and goodwill of musician friends who willingly gave their time and talent.” But on what she describes as a “magical journey” the highlight of the recording sessions was Karen’s daughter, Paris, singing backing vocals on the song ‘Tapestry’ which Karen wrote for her.
