OLD Crescent are to field a women’s team next season, the club has confirmed through its Chairman Liam Toland.
It will be built on the success of a strong underage setup.
Current Munster Women’s Head Coach Matt Brown (and parent of one of our U12 girls) said: “It’s great news to see Old Crescent start up a senior women’s team . With all the good work being done to develop underage girls’ teams it seems a natural progression to start an adult team in the club and I look forward to seeing them progress.”
Former Munster and Ireland international Eimear Considine added: “My cousins play mini and youth rugby with Old Crescent, and I’m thrilled they’ll now have the opportunity to play senior rugby with their club too. Fantastic news for the club and brilliant step forward for women’s sport in Limerick and in Ireland.”
