New beginning for Maighréad

Electro pop artist Maighréad is originally from County Limerick, but now based in London for the last five years.  Her soulful voice and striking image on a suite of recordings made available on her website earlier this year have singled her out as one to watch. She has received very positive support for her music from some well-read music bloggers including Jim Carroll of Irish Times, “…an electro-pop diva in the making”.

Maighréad has been telling Limerick Post about her new record. “The EP, In the Beginning, was released this week though Aztec Records. They’re an independent label here in London, I really like the other artists involved in the label, mostly electro, pop and dance artists, so I’m happy to be under their umbrella for this release. The title track is a collaboration with Disco Damage, a London based electro duo. It’s been great working them and a video we made is on the way too. Also on the EP is a remix by TNTT which I’m loving.”
Maighréad will bring her blend of electronica and that killer voice to Limerick this weekend in what will be her first gig here in years with  a visual show provided by Mark Video, who has worked with Roisin Murphy, Yazoo and Kayne West amongst others. Maighréad says, “I really can’t wait to get back to Limerick to gig. I’ve worked hard on this new set and I’m looking forward to showcasing it at home. It will be really good to show my friends and family what I’ve been up to. Plus, I get to hang out after the gig too and bop around to our DJ.  Mark Video will bring a visual aspect to the show with the live projections we’re working on, so again it’s a new angle for people to see about me and my work.”
Maighréad plays Dolans this Friday November 19 with Mark Video on live visuals. The party continues after the show with electro/pop DJ Coco Yeah of London’s Club Koochooloo playing her debut Irish show.
