O’Connell to return for Young Munster

-

PAUL O’CONNELL will return to action for Young Munster tonight as they take on rivals Shannon.

The Division 1A All-Ireland League game will be the first for the Munster captain since injuring his groin against Scotland in the Six Nations.

A strong return from the second-row could see him in contention for a start in the Thomond Park Magner’s League game against Cardiff Blues on Saturday week.

More importantly it means he could be in the frame for the  Heineken Cup tie against the Ospreys on December 12.

At first O’Connell’s injury was only expected to keep him sidelined for the short term, but his missed the quarter-final and semi-final of the Heineken Cup.

Munster team manager Shaun Payne welcomed the news and said he was delighted the 31-year old was making progress.
