Music notes – Other Voices – Micronite and more

TICKETS for the Other Voices happening this weekend in Dingle sold out within ten minutes of being offered for sale. Ellie Goulding, Everything Everything, Anna Calvi, James Vincent McMorrow, John Smith and Ryan Sheridan have been confirmed to make the trip to Kerry along with The National (pictured) who play this  Sunday, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley, Marina and The Diamonds, Laura Marling, Smoke Fairies, Cathy Davey, And So I Watch You From Afar, The Minutes and O Emperor.

But all is not lost for those who didn’t manage to bag ticket! This year Intune Networks will provide nightly live high definition screenings of all the action from St. James’ Church to seven venues across Dingle. Music lovers will be able to enjoy each and every performance from the comfort of a nearby barstool with a pint in hand and you never know which of your musical heroes you might bump into while tucking into the morning fry-up!

THE last Micronite of 2010 this Saturday presents Niki its newest resident. Having made a swift rise through the ranks in a very short space of time Niki has proven herself as a talented and dedicated DJ from house parties, beach and field raves to becoming Micronite resident and playing one of the headline slots at Bump! Muzik festival.
In a world awash with image orientated female DJs, Niki concentrates on what is really important… the music. Her style is all bouncy party energy fuelled techno music that’s always aimed at the floor so you can’t help but dance.

THE line-up for Live At The Marquee 2011 sees some big names from Ireland and beyond on their way to Cork next summer. The line-up so far has Elton John, Christy Moore, Bell X1, Imelda May and Alexandra Burke. Tickets go on sale this week are certain to go fast.

SpeakeasyJazz is hosting The Boudoir Sessions for a special Christmas show featuring the music, styling and performances from or based on the 1920s-50s era. The evening’s live show will see the Limerick debut of Chill and Aranos who perform in true acapella Do Wop Barbershop Style. The Boudoir Boys have performed DJ sets at the Electric Picnic and have supported The Wailers and Julian Marley. According to the organisers their set promises “upbeat tunes with character, to swing and sway any discerning dance floor”. Speakeasy Jazz happens at Shannon Boat Club, Thursday, December 16.
