Aerospace employees agree to restructuring plan

WORKERS at Shannon Aerospace the maintenance and engineering company based at Shannon have voted in favour of a restructuring programme for the company.  The details of the plan were agreed with employee representatives and SIPTU, during an extensive consultation phase under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission, the company has said in a statement.

“Today marks a new chapter in the development of Shannon Aerospace.  With a robust cost structure, new working practices, a deep pool of experienced aviation professionals and our first class facility in Shannon”, said CEO Thomas Rückert.

A subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, the company commenced operations in 1990 and, from January 2011, will have a workforce of in excess of 540 employees.
