Weston residents escape arson attack

RESIDENTS in a Ballinacurra Weston house were lucky to escape uninjured after an arson attack on their home at the weekend.
On Saturday, May 28, a house in Hyde Avenue was entered at around 5.45am.
A fire was lit causing considerable damage to the house, which was occupied at the time.

A smoke alarm sounded, waking the residents, who escaped unharmed.
โ€œThis appears to have been a deliberate attempt to set fire to this house, with no consideration for the safety of the occupantsโ€, said crime prevention officer, Brian Broderick.
โ€œThis was a disturbing incident that could have resulted in serious injury, or even the loss of lifeโ€.
Roxboro Road gardaรญ are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Hyde Avenue area on Saturday morning, to contact them or the Garda Confidential Phone-line.
