Flood defences won’t impact historical medieval wall, council says

LIMERICK Council has confirmed that the King’s Island Flood Defences will include design proposals to demarcate the medieval wall within the upgraded pavement materials.

In response to a question from Independent councillor Maria Donoghue, the Council revealed that the location of the medieval wall that has been discovered is distinct from previous findings and its design team are now actively exploring the most effective way to highlight and display the wall’s position to the public.

“This approach will ensure that the historical significance of the site is respected and clearly communicated in the final design,” the Council said.
