Chief Justice John Murray to stand down

LIMERICK-BORN John Murray, is to stand down as Chief Justice on July 23, with his successor yet to be named.
According to media reports, Mr Murray is the highest paid judge in the world.

In addition to his €295,000 salary, he draws down two pensions from his period as attorney general and a member of the European Court of Justice.
Highly respected, he is brother of State Solicitor for Limerick, Michael Murray, and architect Hugh Murray, and nephew of former Mayor of Limerick, Clem Casey.
