Nine questioned over Limerick murders

FIVE people arrested and questioned in connection with three murders in Limerick city in 2008 and 2009 earlier this week have been returned to prison as the investigation continues into the deaths of Roy Collins, Shane Geoghegan and James Cronin. All five were released without charge and a file will prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Four more arrests were made on Thursday, one under the provision of Section 42 of the Criminal Justice Act while the others were made under sections 30 and 50 of the same act. The two men and two women, all in their 20s, were detained at Roxboro, Mayorstone and Henry Street garda stations.

Two have been released while the other two remain in custody and can be questioned for a further 24 hours.
