Shop local this Christmas, pleads Chamber chief

A CALL on all Limerick people to do their Christmas shopping in the city, comes from Limerick Chamber president, Kieran MacSweeney
The Chamber is actively involved this year in promoting the city through financial support and with the festive lights now on and the season getting into full swing, Mr McSweeney says:

“We are urging all Limerick people and those of the greater Mid West region to enjoy their Christmas shopping experience at home and to buy local in these difficult economic times for everybody, because we must all support each other in creating a better 2012”.
A particular enticement to shoppers this year is the free on-street parking available in the city throughout December on Friday and Saturday afternoons.
“Parking has always been perceived as an issue but this year we have two schemes up and running, with shops, hotels, restaurants and businesses rewarding their customers with parking vouchers for multi-storey car parks, while City Hall is offering free on-street parking on the weekend afternoons.
“Limerick has so much to offer this festive period from the Christmas market to Limerick on Ice, pantomimes at the Belltable and UCH, storytelling  at the Hunt Museum, treasure hunts in the People’s Park, Santa in the Milk Market, not to mention the great value offers our fantastic hotels  have for those from out of town and the city centre has something for everybody in the family – an eclectic mix of retail, cafés and great ambience”.
The chamber is promoting Limerick this Christmas through financial support for a national campaign, co-ordinated by the Communications Office and funded by Failte Ireland, Limerick City Council, Shannon Development, Limerick Business Association etc.
*Signage has been erected on the approach roads to Limerick advising of the number of car spaces available at local car parks.
