Limerick FC have one hand on the title

-

LIMERICK FC have one hand firmly on the Airtricity First Division title ahead of this Saturday’s night’s clash with Longford at Flancare Park. Limerick lead the division by four points from Waterford United with just two games to go.

Limerick has a full house against Longford Town this season. One win, one draw and one defeat. This Saturday’s game, if it were not going to be tight enough anyway, will be a massive test of Limerick’s resolve as they strive for a win to secure promotion.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s massive clash, Limerick manager Pat Scully commented, “We got the result we needed and deserved last Friday at home to a hard working Athlone Town team. We never gave up and continued to play our football and Sean Brosnan got the goal we needed with an excellent finish. We have a very tough task this weekend away to Longford Town who have been excellent all season. Tony Cousins has done a great job up there and they are now preparing for the playoffs. We need a win to clinch the league and must be at our very best to do so in Longford.”
Should Limerick now win on Saturday, the title race will go the last day against Wexford Youths on Saturday October 13.
