Corkman jailed for Limerick drugs haul

A CORK man has been jailed for three years for having €60,000 worth of cannabis for sale or supply when gardai stopped his car in County Limerick in July 2011.
Philip Ward (31) of Oliver Plunkett Place, Doneraile, pleaded guilty to the charge last summer but the matter was adjourned for a probation report to be submitted to the court.
Judge Carroll Moran heard that Mr Ward was stopped just outside Banogue by gardaí who found over five kilograms of cannabis in the car he was driving on July 5, 2011.

Defence counsel, Andrew Sexton, SC said that the probation report indicated that Mr Ward, who had a very bad drug habit in the past, has since overcome his addictions.
