Limerick got their intermediate championship campaign off to a great start away to Kilkenny in Urlingford on Saturday June 22. The girls gave a sizeable travelling support plenty to cheer and led from the early stages with Dymphna O’Brien’s goal ensuring Limerick led 1-5 to 0-6 at half time.

Kilkenny got a goal back in the second half but a further seven points from Limerick meant they ran out deserving winners. Next up for the team is a game against Antrim which will be played at a neutral venue next Saturday 29.

Limerick 2-4 Offaly 2-12

There was a disappointing result in their first championship outing for our under 16 team in Ahane on Sunday June 23. An early goal put Limerick ahead but Offaly’s greater accuracy in front of goal meant they went in at half time tw0 points ahead.

Limerick started the second half brightly but a brace of goals for Offaly gave Limerick a mountain to climb going into the final quarter. To give credit to the girls they never gave up and pulled a goal back with five minutes to go.

However it was too late and Offaly ran in deserving winners. Limerick will regroup from here and build on the many positive features of the girls’ performance.
