A YOUNG woman was dramatically pulled from the Abbey River last Wednesday evening when she was seen entering the water shortly after 7pm.

The teenager was pulled from the river by members of her family who wadded in after her.

Gardai attended the scene near the Abbey Bridge close the Corbally.

Members of her family then rushed the young woman to the University Hospital Limerick in a car.

Later that evening, the Shannon based Rescue 115 helicopter carried out fly over manoeuvres over Limerick city after the incident was stood down. Two units from Limerick City fire and rescue service also attended the scene.
