After Dark – Ultimate Quiz at Thomond Park

THERE was a great turnout last Friday 11 night for the Ultimate Quiz night which was in aid of Rape Crisis Mid-West. The event, which raised funds and awareness for the charity, took place at Thomond Park and was very different to your usual garden variety table quiz! While teams of four cost €100 it was all for a great cause plus the teams were treated to top notch entertainment. Drag artist Madonna Lucia proved a brilliant host and made sure the event was great night as scores of teams battled it out for the top spot.
As well as the quiz there was plenty going on with a stilt walker entertaining everyone on arrival, magic throughout from magician David Walsh and special performances by Clown Noir and singer Jean McGlynn. There was also a raffle and lots of fun spot prizes for those who had the oldest currency in the room or the first person to volunteer to sing the national anthem!
Those taking part were tested on everything from music and sport to science and history and there was delicious food at the interval to fuel the brains. In the end though, it was Dan Mooney’s team who proudly took the top placing scooping €1,000 in the process!
The Limerick Post took three tables at the event and tied for fourth place and we were also a proud media sponsor.
Verena Tarpey from Rape Crisis Mid-West was delighted with the response for the fundraiser which she says has raised in excess of €10,000 so far and will now become an annual event.
“Rape Crisis Mid-West relies heavily on volunteers to carry out our services [providing free and confidential services to survivors of rape and sexual abuse and incest] and the event simply wouldn’t have taken place without our brilliant team of volunteers which are made up of students and members of the local business community,” she said.   Well done to all involved in what was a fantastic event!
