POST Punk Podge & The Technohippies will play their genre-defying EP Technohippies! Activate! live in Limerick for the first time when they headline the Record Room on Friday, 17 April, with Louder Than Books — who will also launch a new EP on the night — and We Come in Pieces.

Post Punk Podge have confirmed that Barry Johnson, drummer with Louder Than Books, will join them on stage, alongside a brass section, for what is set to be a characteristically energetic performance.

Released in June 2025, Technohippies! Activate! showcases the band at their most adventurous, spanning four tracks that move freely between Irish traditional music, post-punk, hip-hop, and psychedelic rock. The Plassey Air is a lilting fiddle-led instrumental, while One For Kim ventures into jazzy, prog-rock territory. Reheated Beef leans into the band’s hip-hop influences, and Johnny Turpentine — an ode to a man addicted to sniffing turpentine — rides a thunderous guitar riff to deliver what may be the closest thing to a straight-up banger in the PPP catalogue, without surrendering an ounce of their trademark snarl.

Also on stage is Limerick three-piece Louder Than Books, whose brand of quiet-loud emo-tinged grunge-rock will serve as the perfect complement, as they mark the occasion with an EP launch of their own. Record Room this Friday, 17 April.
