After Dark – Spanish Themed wine night at the Locke Bar

LAST Wednesday 16 night saw the return of the popular wine evenings at The Locke Bar and this time the theme was distinctly Spanish.
As usual, arriving club members gathered downstairs for an intimate Cava reception before the main event, the much awaited Spanish wine pairing with foods at this popular riverside bar and restaurant.
In association with Christy’s Wines and Spirits, Neil Foley and his team at The Locke Bar welcomed winery representative Mar Dopazo from Terras Gauda as she guided everyone through the impressive bottlings from Terras Gauda, Abadía de San Campio and Bodegas Pittacum.
The event was complimented even further by the delightful Spanish themed meal on offer, with guests enjoying three delicious courses of traditional Spanish fare that included Latin inspired dishes like paella to lamb shank to mention but a few, an amuse bouche and cheeseboard and fruit included.
The meal was paired perfectly with a really delicious selection of Spanish wines for each course which Mar Dopazo talked everyone through. She spoke briefly about the selection  and production process behind the high end selection and the future of the exclusive vineyard which doesn’t distribute massive amounts of the wine to ensure exclusivity.
The wine nights have proved very popular with wine buffs and foodies alike which is not surprising when you consider what’s on offer at one of these nights for around €30-35. There are plenty of special offers and wine of the month discounts included for members of the wine club.
A different themed evening takes place every couple of months for club members. In the past guests have enjoyed Italian, Californian and Australian evenings to name but a few.  The last wine night of this year by the way will take place on December 4 which will have both a French and festive theme and is sure to book out quickly!
